Comfortmaker print
8.4” x 16.5” (50% of original)
Fine art print on cotton rag paper, providing deepest black and detailed textures, no white border.
collage with acrylics on found object mounted to black textured box
This artwork was created from several inspirations. The starting point was the image of the payphone, found at Joliet prison, in Illinois. This was the only connection many people had to the outside world for years that they were incarcerated. The metal HVAC panel was found in a river in Arkansas, “Comfortmaker” is the product name. These elements coalesced to represent the need for comfort and dialog post COVID, with a lack of connection leading to fear and discord throughout the world. The bird becomes the voice of comfort as the water represents the pouring out of each person’s heart.
Original was purchased by a collector and is not available.
